Meet the Team

  • KAMMIE HUNTINGTON

    FOUNDER/DIRECTOR

    Kammie started dancing at the age of 4. She danced at Jane Seiferts School of Dance in Granger, Iowa. She performed at many dance competitions and Bill Riley Talent Shows throughout her time there. Kammie went to Mankato State University where she minored in dance and participated on the dance team. After college, at the age of 24, Kammie opened her first dance studio in Perry, Iowa. When her daughter turned 4, Kammie and Kaeleigh moved to Afton, Iowa where she opened Dance Explosion. Kammie has enjoyed teaching all of the kids around the community and watching them grow. Throughout her time at Dance Explosion, Kammie has won many choreography awards and studio awards.

  • KAELEIGH PARROTT

    DIRECTOR/CHOREOGRAPHER

    Kaeleigh has been dancing for 20+ years. She started assisting with classes at the age of 12. Kaeleigh started choreographing routines for Dance Explosion when she was a freshman in High School. Kaeleigh has won multiple awards since she started performing. In 2002, she got the opportunity to perform at the halftime show in the Liberty Bowl with many other dancers from across the country. In 2017, Kaeleigh made it to the finals in the Bill Riley Talent Show with her brother at the Iowa State Fair where they received 5th place. Kaeleigh performed with the Iowa Wolves Dance Team in 2015 where she learned from different choreographers. From 2015-2019 Kaeleigh served as the Head Coach for the Southwestern Community College Dance Team. During that time her team competed at the Iowa Dance Team Championships and Dance Team Union Competitions where the team received multiple Division 1 ratings as well as multiple top 3 Division placements. Kaeleigh has also assisted with choreographing routines for the middle school and high school dance team at East Union. Kaeleigh now focuses on choreographing competition routines at Dance Explosion where she has won multiple choreography awards.

  • Hannah Henry

    CHOREOGRAPHER

    Hannah danced at Dance Explosion for 10+ years. She graduated from high school in 2022 and went to SWCC to attend Nursing School. She has won multiple awards from Dance Competitions as well as being a Bill Riley Talent Show Sprout Champion. Hannah loves working with dancers and choreographing routines alongside Kammie and Kaeleigh.

  • Kenna Funke

    Choreographer

    Kenna has been dancing since the age of 4. This last May she graduated from Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield, Iowa. This upcoming August she will be attending SWCC to study Physiology and Sociology. At SWCC she will also be apart of the dance team to continue her passion for dance.

    For the past 4 years she has been lucky enough to help teach at Dance Explosion! She has grown to love teaching younger dancers and help them find the passion for dance at a young age. Dancing at Dance Explosion taught her what love, kindness, and family is. She is so excited to come back and keep teaching dancers!

  • KIARA STEVENS

    CHOREOGRAPHER

    Kiara has been dancing since the age of 3. She recently graduated from Nodaway Valley High School in Greenfield, IA. She is currently attending DMACC to study photography. Throughout high school, she was a member of the NV Dance team for 4 years where she was able to grow as a dancer, teammate and leader. During her time on the team, she achieved many accomplishments, including earning a Division I rating and placing 4th in Class V Pom in 2024. In 2025, they earned another Division I rating and placed 6th in Class III Pom. In 2026, they had an incredible season earning a Division I rating and placing 3rd in Class IV Pom, receiving a Division I rating and placing 5th in Class II Lyrical, as well as earning the Distinguished Academic Award. These experiences taught her the importance of dedication, teamwork, commitment, and pushing herself to be the best dancer and teammate she could be.

    For the past two years, she had the opportunity to be a student assistant at Dance Explosion, where she discovered her passion for working with young dancers and sharing her love for dance with others. Dance has taught her confidence, discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, and she is excited to continue passing those lessons on to young dancers while helping them grow both inside and outside of the studio.
